LEC GmbH

Andreas Wimmer is co-founder and long-term CEO as well as scientific director of the Large Engines Competence Center (LEC) in Graz, Austria. He is furthermore professor and deputy head of the Institute of Thermodynamics and Sustainable Propulsion Systems at the Graz University of Technology and in this context head of the research group “The Working Process of the IC Engine – Analysis and Simulation”. Andreas studied Mechanical Engineering and Business Administration at Graz University of Technology, where he also received his PhD and habilitation. He had been head of the Christian Doppler Laboratory “Thermodynamics of the IC Engine” from 1998 to 2003.

Andreas’ key objective is the development of sustainable high-power systems for power generation and transport and thus the drastic reduction of emissions. His research focuses on the simulation of combustion in combustion engines based on 0D-, 1D- and 3D-methods and the experimental validation as well as sensor development and the development of sustainable overall systems.
Andreas is a book author and has published numerous papers. On his initiative, global networks such as the first Large Engines Global Research and Innovation Platform LEGRIP or the LEC Sustainable Shipping Technologies Forum were founded, international lighthouse projects for green energy and transport systems were initiated. Together with his team, he has been awarded several prizes for outstanding innovations and research achievements
