Insights from PLATINA4Action on regulations to unlock the energy transition of inland waterway transport in Europe
European regulations are key to effectively enable the emission reduction of inland vessels. Currently there is no business case for using renewable energy and clean technologies. This bottleneck needs to be resolved by regulations. PLATINA4Action provides targeted coordination and support activities focussing on deploying green and connected inland waterway transport., evaluates the NAIADES III policy and prepares a new policy and research agenda in close cooperation with European Commission, stakeholders and experts. Results from the joint paper of April 2025 will be highlighted.
