The role of metrology for the transition toward net-zero shipping

This presentation will showcase how GERG coordinates and integrates multiple EURAMET metrology initiatives to support the maritime sector’s transition toward net zero. Building on projects covering ammonia, hydrogen, CCUS, cryogenic fuels and next‑generation engines, it will demonstrate how shared metrological approaches address common challenges, create synergies and generate actionable lessons. The presentation will clarify how robust measurement underpins safety, performance optimisation, comparability and regulatory confidence for sustainable maritime energy systems.
